Dr. Chin-Cheng “Scotty” Yang is an Associate Professor and the Urban and Structural Entomology Endowed Chair in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University, where he leads an active research program focused on advancing the fundamental understanding of urban and invasive pests to inform more effective, practical, and scalable management strategies. He has authored or co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and has extensive experience collaborating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders on invasive ant management at state, national, and international levels. He has also contributed to several book chapters and industry publications and delivered more than 90 invited presentations at universities, government agencies, and national and international scientific and industry meetings. His program bridges research, industry, and regulatory communities to advance science-based urban pest management.

Hilton Carter

For Hilton Carter, it all started with one plant, a fiddle-leaf fig named Frank, to be exact. As he explains in his best-selling book Wild at Home: How to style and care for beautiful plants(April 2019), his interest in plants started out as purely practical. Since then, he has written and photographed four other best sellers, Wild Interiors: Beautiful plants in beautiful spaces (April 2020), Wild Creations (April 2021), Living Wild (April 2023), The Propagation Handbook (April 2024) and UNFURLED: Designing a Living Home (September 2025), partnered with Target on three collections Hilton Carter for Target, created a special with PBS titled Living Wild: Plant-spiration with Hilton Carter (2024) and a special with HBO MAX and Magnolia Network titled Planterior with Hilton Carter(2024) released his Guide to Houseplants workshops, with the Magnolia Network.

Hilton Carter is a father, husband, plant/interior stylist, author, and artist. He lives in Baltimore, MD, with his wife Fiona and daughters, Holland and Vada. He has a loyal following on Instagram(@hiltoncarter), where he shares his knowledge of plant care and interior styling with the design and green loving community.

Dr. Jess Steier

Jess Steier, DrPH, PMP, is a public health scientist and the founder and CEO of Unbiased Science, a science communication platform reaching millions of people each month through its podcast, newsletter, and social channels. She also serves as Executive Director of the Center for Unbiased Science and Health and leads Vital Statistics Consulting, a public health program evaluation firm.

Jess holds a doctorate in public health from CUNY and a master's in public health from Stony Brook University, and she serves on the Board of Directors of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Her work focuses on translating complicated evidence into practical guidance families can actually use, and she's been recognized with the American Medical Writers Association McGovern Award and Stony Brook's 40 Under 40. She lives in western Massachusetts with her husband, two kids, four rescue dogs, and two rescue cats.
